The National Labor Women's Network is the official national women's network in the ALP. It was launched by Kim Beazley at the 1996 National ALP Conference. The Network believes that encouraging women to participate in all levels of the Party's structure, the government and public life is the best way to achieve policy outcomes that reflect the needs of women in the Australian community.
The National Labor Women's Network provides a forum to increase the number of women active in the Labor Party; facilitate and strengthen relationships between the state Labor women organisations and the National Network, as well as supporting the development of skills that assist women to participate in the ALP at all levels.
It is a cross-factional group working with and for women, to strengthen their skills and roles within the Party.
Every woman who is a financial member of the Australian Labor Party is a member of the National Labor Women's Network. There is no cost involved, Other than the yearly ALP membership fee which is paid to the relevant state or territory branch of the ALP.
